Westfield 3rd Ward

Young Women 16+ & Priests Camp 2021

  • 3 nights
  • 24 youth
  • $940.38 for the campground

Activities they did

  • Hiked Delicate Arch
  • Kayaked down the River - started at Onion Creek Campground
  • Repelling down Morning Glory Arch
  • Floated in our life jackets down the river to cool off
  • Biked Gemni Bridges (don’t know if I would recommend that to everyone).
  • Played in the water spill ways
  • We had planned to Hike Fisher Towers also, but didn’t have enough time.

Pros

  • Loved this trip. Couldn’t have found a better campground for the size of group we had. We had a lot of activities planned. Kids kept busy.
  • As a ward we bought kayaks - saved a TON of money. This way all the other youth groups in our ward were able to use the same kayaks for their camps.
  • We had Ben Dahl take us through the rappel. He is well trained for this kind of activity and we never felt unsafe. You need to have experienced people to take a group this size rappelling. Has to be well organized and plenty of gear.

Cons

  • Biking was rough. Don’t take kids unless the all have GOOD bikes with working gears, don’t go when it is 100 degrees. Kids didn’t take enough water. Probably wouldn’t do the bike ride again with a group this large and very inexperienced bikers. Those who know how to bike well and had a good bike - loved it. That was a some portion of our group.
